Fashion Show, Proposal & Celebration!

This past weekend was very exciting in so many ways. Friday evening I had a delicious meal at Red Lobster with my Mom. We had the happiest waiter ever, he made the meal even more enjoyable. We then meandered around Target where I found an adorable new dress to wear for the next day. Saturday was my college's annual fashion show. Our close family friend came up for it and after a nice lunch of breakfast food we headed to the show. It was excellent to say the least. The front row seats made the event even better. My Mom and I then hopped into the car and drove home for a very exciting Sunday. On Sunday the family all gathered to watch my sister's boyfriend propose! After the initial shock my sister said yes and we proceeded to celebrate with a nice dinner, cake, and champagne.

A Change. Something New & Different.

How does time get away from me like this? It has been 14 days since my last post. Life has been crazy. Last 3 weeks of the semester means its crunch time. Busy, busy, busy.

I've been madly researching haircuts the last few days. I decided it was time for something new and different so i'm chopping it off (May 1st to be exact)! The image (of Kristin Kreuk) below is the kind of style I'm thinking...

Be Daring. Try something New, Different & Bold.

Finally!

I'm so saddened that I haven't made a blog post in 15 days! : (

That shows how much of a busy bee i've been the past couple weeks. Each day I feel like a chicken running around with my head cut off! (Oh dear, what is a TERRIBLE analogy! So sad!)

Anyway, I am indeed loving this spring weather we have been having. Even the interruptions of rain haven't been that bad.

So I'm absolutely loving today because its the shoeless shindig! I'm going barefoot all day today to support and honor all the people who go without shoes everyday.

Go Barefoot. Skip in the sunshine.

~her grace
~her elegance
~her charm
~her humanitarian efforts
~her love of animals
~her past as a ballerina

Japanese Style of Decorating

I am currently totally into Japanese inspired interior design. After going to Roji's tea lounge in Syracuse for the first time yesterday I am totally feeling the Japanese way of decorating. As soon as I took my shoes off and sat on the floor at the low tea table I felt complete and utter calmness. I was literally giddy with joy and couldn't get over how peaceful it was. As I research/ shop for decorations for my apartment this summer I think I will gravitate towards this style.

Peace. Balance. Harmony. Zen.

The two pictures above our items that are currently on my wish list. For almost a year now I've been wanting a pair of yellow converse. Couldn't you picture them with a cute sun dress?! Also, today my friend pointed this lovely print out to me which i love love love. Blogs & tea- what more could a girl want, right?! Maybe someday soon these items I covet will be mine, wishing & hoping!

Belated St. Patty's wishes & Reflection on Spring

Well, Happy Belated St. Patrick's Day Everyone! Unfortunately, computer issues kept me away from blogging yesterday. To honor yesterday's holiday I have posted a picture below from when I kissed the Blarney Stone in Ireland, during my trip to Europe in Summer 2006. It was so scary being that I really don't like heights- I bawled like a baby.. (Thank goodness for sunglasses!)

This beautiful weather outside the last few days reminds me that Spring is around the corner, Saturday to be exact. I love the warmer weather but I also know that graduation is around the corner. Sadly, it won't be my graduation till December since I'm one semester behind schedule. Anyhow, my close friends will be graduating and I'm going to miss them terribly. Changes are around the corner and I'm not sure if I'm completely prepared for them.

Moral of the Story: Treasure the Moments.

Amigurumi

Recently I've been attracted to what I have been calling 'crochet plushies'. Little did I know, they have an official name! Amigurumi - is the Japanese art of crocheting small stuffed animal critters. I found a bunch on Etsy. I'm thinking about mothers day & birthday gifts. Here are a few of my faves:

ADORABLE!

Sunshine, Cards, Target, Decals, Panera.

Today has been a beautiful day outside. Its giving me a tad bit of some spring fever. Yesterday I wore uggs, today was ballet flat day- yippee! I hope the rest of the week is as nice as today.
Go Outside, Soak up some Vitamin D!

So let me tell you about this passion of mine, card-making. It is difficult for me to go a day without making a homemade card, I just love it. Cards/notes/letters are such a dying art. It perks up someone's day when they open their mailbox to find a handwritten card. So much more personal then an e-mail. I suggest everyone drop a quick note in the mail to a family member or friend. It will boost their day as well as your own!
Snail Mail. Do it, its fun!

I heart Target. It has everything I could want and more. Today the mission was st. patty's day decorations- it was a tad disappointing since most everything was Easter related. I did find a few cute items though. I love poking around the little dollar section at the front of the store. I pick up things here and there for future gifts. Since I know a couple birthdays coming up ; )
Shop early to seek out good finds!

Wall decals! The best invention- removable, restickable, repositionable, they are great! Lucky me happened to go into JoAnne's today to find the wall decal section to be 75% off. Eeeek!! I was a tad excited to say the least. I picked up a few for my future apartment with my boyfriend, I hope he likes them!
Decoration doesn't have to be Permanent!

At the end of my adventure today my roomie & I ate at Panera Bread. Mmm... Jones organic green tea & white cheddar macaroni & cheese = a splendid treat.
Treat Yourself!

My Romantic Spring Break Moment

Last week (3/5-3/14) was my Spring Break. I went to Traverse City, MI to see my boyfriend. On Saturday, our last night together we had the best time.
As Sophia on Golden Girls would say "Picture it"...

~Music playing through the speakers. (Lots of Taylor Swift!)
~Candles lit on the dining room table, soft beautiful candlelight.
~Boyfriend cooking chicken Fettuccine Alfredo in the kitchen.
~A nice glass of Merlot for him & Winter White table wine for me.
~The smells of spices, pasta, sauce, and garlic bread.
~Lights turned off creating a sexy dark room.
~A heartwarming toast to start the meal.
Best Part was...
My boyfriend grabbing me to dance,
twirling,
spinning,
dipping,
embracing.

Sweet. Romantic. Amazingly Memorable.

Recent Internet finds

PERFECT WEDDING DRESS

I saw this in the Brides magazine I picked up yesterday. It is an Alfred Angelo dress. I am thinking this might actually be THE dress. Since a spring/summer wedding is in the future *fingers crossed*. I keep picturing this dress with cute little blue satin ballet flats and a skinny blue satin ribbon sash. My vision of my wedding changes frequently but I think this one might stick, at least I hope it does. It seems to be a "keeper" like my boyfriend! ; )

ADORABLE CAT COLLAR

I found this super cute cat collar today on Etsy. I don't have a cat yet but I've been searching online for cute supplies (collar, food/water dishes, bed) for when the times comes. I will most likely be getting a male cat so I thought the colors in this collar would be suitable. My boyfriend might think its too feminine- hehe, oh well.

Exciting future events coming my way

  • St. Patrick's Day - Wear green, Drink green beer, Socialize, Celebrate being Irish!
  • NYC Trip - See Tim Burton exhibit, Go to a show, Shop.
  • Easter - Go home for the weekend to enjoy the company of my family.
  • The end of the semester - Only one more to go.
  • My 22nd Birthday - Fun & Food & Cake & Presents & Laughs with my dear family.
  • Moving in to an Apartment with my boyfriend - Rearranging/Getting Settled/Decorating.
  • Adopting a Cat from the SPCA - My first pet on my own. : )
  • Engagement???
I will be sure to detail all these events as they come.

This is the start of something good

Why I created this blog...

This is something I have always wanted to do; to create a blog. A place where I can just think out loud. At this time in my life a lot of changes and transitions are coming up. I will have a bunch of different emotions going through my head and here I can let them all out. It will be my outlet, to escape to and share my feelings, thoughts, joys, delights, emotions, frustrations, etc. Whether it is through a quote, picture, song lyrics, etc. This is my place to be me.

My current situation...

I'm a college student in my senior year. My major is fashion merchandising, however, I don't particularly like it most of the time. Unfortunately, I won't be graduating this May, I will graduate in December instead. At times I'm thankful & relieved because that way I'm not super stressed and going through academic hell. On the other hand at times I'm sad and angry because I won't get to graduate with my friends and most of them will all be leaving. Aside from that, I have roughly 2 months left of this semester and it will be filled with challenges and excitements.

Stay tuned!
