Guess who is coming to dinner...

Oh the hectic feeling of getting your house & self presentable for the arrival of company. Today I've been rushing around madly cleaning the apartment so it is spic & span. As well as getting myself all dolled up & pretty. This evening my Mom arrives!!!

She will stay in town till Thursday. I have some fun times planned. I rented movies, have some yummy meals planned, we will finally go out & see the movie Hop! As well as other exciting & enjoyable times to be had. Then when the few days of fun is done I will be going back with her to Lockport, NY to do lots of wedding prep since the big day is getting closer & closer each day!

I'm going to miss my family of three (Bill, Cinder Fella, & Honeybee) but the end result of the seperation is a beautiful wedding & the happiness of being married!

(1/3 of my family of three,
my child, little girlie girl Honeybee)

Sweep. Dust. Primp. Open your doors & Welcome family inside.

Hop-py Easter

Did everyone have a pleasant Easter celebration? I hope so.

I had the lovely company of my fiance.
I tried making a new dish for dinner: Vegetarian stuffed peppers.
Verdict: Okay, worth making again. Thought of a few adaptations for the recipe for next time.
We also went to the 10pm showing of 'Water for Elephants'. I'm reading the book. & even though I wasn't quite done with it yet I wanted to go see the movie.

To say I was disappointed is an understatement. They changed key aspects of the story, rearranged the order of events, didn't match the image I created with the casting of the characters, focused way too much on the mistreatment of the circus animals, & overall made it far too magical & fairytale-like for my taste.

I am anxious to finish up the book. Per usual the book is far better than the movie depiction.

Never know until you try. Practice makes perfect - Food adventure.
It is best not to mess with what already works. Judge a movie by its book.

Konichiwa

I hope this luck I have been having with movie viewing continues.
Beyond Amazing.
A Japanese film from '08.
'Departures'.
I was reminded of these two songs while watching...

After all this has passed, I still will remain
After I've cried my last, there'll be beauty from pain
- Beauty from Pain by Superchick

If I die young bury me in satin
Lay be down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
- If I Die Young by The Band Perry

Love is... LOVE.

Movie recently watched: 'I Love You Phillip Morris'

Such a sweet & lovely story.

Brought laughter as well as tears to my eyes.

Love is between two people no matter what gender.

A Good Day Entails...

Waking up to the smell of breakfast in bed being delivered to me.
French toast & tea to be exact.

Cleaning the apartment with Jimmy Eat World tunes playing on Pandora.

Bubble Bath (milk & honey!), lavender bath salts, candles...

Random crazy dance at 11pm to 'Hound dog' by Elvis.

Banana chips & Arizona green tea with honey.

Starting a new book.

...& knowing how much you are truly appreciated.

"Oh don't worry about Halloween. The pixies won't be out till after midnight."

Yesterday my fiance & I went to the local state theater here in Traverse City, MI. Every Wednesday at 11am they have classic movies for only 25 cents! The movie showing: "Arsenic & Old Lace", one of my absolute favorites.

I don't know what I liked best about the outing, the fact its a great movie, or that it was only 25 cents, or the fact that we were the only couple under 80 years old in the whole theater.

As for the movie - I just love the acting of Cary Grant in this film. His facial expressions are priceless. He doesn't have to say a thing you can read exactly what he's thinking just be looking at his face and eyes. What a great actor.

1944. Classic movies. Acting at its best.

June Bride

Dream a little dream

Comfy window seat with a soft cushion & pillows,
Sunlight pouring through the window,
a beautifully crocheted afghan* on my lap,
my two kitties curled up asleep next to me,
a tall stack of books along side ready to be read,
a never-ending mug of tea perhaps vanilla chai,
a day to sit in this splendor & relish every moment,
is my current daydream.

(* afghan preferably made by my talented mother)

head in the clouds. its the place to be.

Blissful Sunday

Image to represent my mood for the day...

Sleeping in till noon.

French bistro for brunch - fresh fruit crepe & creme brulee - Amazing!
(also 50% taken off our bill due to our long wait!)

Sunshine & breeze made for an enjoyable walk around town.

Quick stop at the library. Witnessed two men argue about politics outside.
(quite hysterical...)

Grabbed a few goodies (sparkling juice, herbal water, & white tea) at the natural foods store.

Driving around with windows down, sunroof open, & music loud.

No April showers here.

Courthouse-style Wedding...

Lately, as I've been getting increasingly overwhelmed & stressed about all the planning & work I still have to do for our upcoming wedding, the more & more I've been wondering if we should have just had a simple courthouse-style wedding ceremony.

While yes, I do enjoy all the fuss of planning, I have found I liked planning all the big aspects (dress, cake, venue, flowers) but not all the little busywork & last minute details.

(courthouse wedding a la sex & the city)

Oh well, everything happens for a reason, right?

In the end its all about Love.
